Just like the expensive brands
I've had a few of these over the years, and this one works and looks so very close to the high-priced variety that I'm actually amazed at the similarities. I've paid as much for replacement bands/o-rings on some models as this whole device cost. Works very well with the Rode NTG-2. At the moment, it is attached to a Sony FX-1, and opening the top mounted LCD requires lifting the rear of the mic a bit, but is no big deal since the bands are forgiving. In no way is this the fault of the Flashpoint. For me it is a bargain.

Great universal shock mount
I lost my mount for a one of my Audio Technica ATR 6550 and I needed a new one. This one works perfectly and what I really like is how high up the mount gets the microphone over the camera. Currently I am using a Panasonic HC X920 with the old microphone mount I had to always check to make sure the end of the mic couldn't be seen in the video. The mount articulates and has a tension screw to help lock it in position. The hot shoe or the part that connects to the camera also moves so there are up / down / left / right capabilities.I would have to imagine the "rubber bands" on the mount could be replaced from ones at a hardware store.

KEY PIECE MISSING but can be made to work
Has adapter for 5/8 mic pole to 3/8 16. Hot shoe attachment has 1/4 20 thread. Need a 1/4 20 to 3/8 16 to mount hot shoe to shock mount.Easily bought or made but not ready to use in a hot shoe out of the box UNLESS YOU TAKE THE 1/4" KNURLED KNOB OFF AND SCREW THE LARGER (3/8) THREADS DIRECTLY INTO THE SHOCK MOUNT. Leave 3/8 knurled knob on to tighten to shock mount.Problem is that only a few of the threads catch and I'm not ready to hang a $$$$$ microphone out at the end of a stick held by two or three threads.

Does the job well without bulk.
Worked quite well in isolating camera/tripod noises from the audio. Basic design, which translates as durable and not too bulky. Took a bit of fiddling to get a snug fit in the shoe while pointing the mike straight ahead, but that wasn't too much a problem. A longer threaded mount with a thumbscrew for tightening would be useful there. You can get O rings or in a pinch rubber bands in case one of them breaks in use, which is a plus in my book.

Haven't tested yet, however what I received is not what was advertised.
Description not accurate. I received the shock mount, and a hotshoe adapter. However the shock mount cannot attach to the hotshoe adapter. There is a reducer to allow the shock mount to attach to flash stands and other devices. However, the hotshoe adapter is very small and will not attach. I'm going to have to order something to make it work.

Seriously it horrible and has buzzing
Do not purchase, it broke on me as soon as I changed the battery. I ended up purchasing the Rode Micro anyways so you might as well save a few bucks and buy that. The shock mount also did not fit the mic to secure it so every time I leaned forward it would slide out of the mount.

Great product for the price
I bought this as a cheap solution to add an external microphone to my dslr camera. I thought this would be short lived when I moved onto a Rode Videomic. I was wrong I still use this in almost every video I make. I have even used it on a light stand to hide a mic in the scene when a boom operator was not available.Bottom line if you have a shotgun mic you would like to place a top your camera this is a very nice solid cost effective solution. Do not hesitate, purchase and enjoy.

Excellent for DSLR
Dramatically decreases noise in filming. Before I had this, the microphone would rattle. I was discouraged because I thought my microphone was bad. However, after implementing the shock mount, the rattle and much of the hiss was gone. Great, simple fix! - Used on a canon rebel t3i
