Works Fine Business
My Yaesu FT8800 was pretty much a closet queen because I just never took the time to program it. Using this cable and a free program I was able to select all repeaters within a 100 mile radius and automatically program the data into my rig. Man, that was easy! And it worked 100% first time.

Yes, this is an FTDI cable
Seller shipped very fast and it was received in just a couple days and way ahead of schedule. The cable was the FTDI cable as advertised and Windows 10 was able to locate a driver and install the drivers. Cable quality seems real good. The cable is thin and flexible. Tested good with Chirp and http://www.g4hfq.co.uk software. Unfortunately RT Systems software will not even install unless you buy their proprietary cable so if you plan on using RT you have to get their cable.

So far so good - I've been having pretty good luck with most products from Valley Enterprises. Came as a genuine FTDI chipset, and works perfectly.I know some have reported issues, but, I know as long as I get a genuine Valley Enterprises product, I should be good to go!!!** I did not get this item for free so I could write a 5 Star review, I paid for it with my own funds.

Works Like It Should
Used on a Yaesu FT-8800RE mobile radio with no issue. My Win 10 laptop loaded the FTDI drivers when the USB was inserted and the cable was ready to use moments later. Used the cable to download the original programming from the radio into CHIRP software, made the required changes to the program and uploaded back to the radio without issue. Highly recommended.

Ridiculously good
This cable worked on my 2013 MacBook Air off the bat with no drivers needed. It just appeared in CHIRP automatically as a port. It took me less than 15 minutes to download my local 2m and 70cm repeaters using CHIRP, clone my FT-8800R to CHIRP using the cable, copy-past the repeaters to the file (I had to manually remove DM repeaters, only FM accepted by 8800R) and clone the file back to 8800R. The only trick to know is that you have to pretend you are cloning between two 8800R's as described in the manual, but actually having your computer at the other end.

Must have for programming Yaesu radios!
Great cable, the drivers you need can be downloaded from a URL sent with the cable. Most important of all, it works! First try, no hassle of finding a different driver that will work with your computer setup. You'll spend a bit more money on the cable with the FTDI chipset, but it is well worth it. Also, the cable works with the FT-8900 radios as well.
