Dark, intense story that pulls you along
Broken is the debut novel of author Eva Dresden, and it is a standout entrance. This is a dark novel, and the language is both fierce and bleak, and it is not for readers that do not want to be challenged by the depth of the language and imagery. You will be drowned in this story once you start it, and for days afterwards you may not feel like you’ve come back. This is an Omegaverse novel, which one hopes the reader will be familiar with prior to reading it. Although even if not, the tight writing of this book will carry the unfamiliar along. Quinn is our heroine here, and circumstances have not been kind to her at the beginning of the book. She is struggling, but doing the best she can to improve her situation. A chance opportunity suggests that something might finally be turning for her, but then the situation begins to spiral out of control, and Quinn finds that her troubles are only just beginning.Without giving away too much of this novel, the story here really comes down to two people; Quinn and Kahler. This is their story, and it is what both drives the novel and gives us the most conflict within the novel. There is growing tension between the two, and also a growing sense of frustration, because there is no denying that despite how their relationship begins, there is attraction between these two. But the both frustrating and wonderful thing about this book is the interplay between the two, and the flawed nature of both characters. They should recognize the things that the reader sees about them both, and of course they don’t, which makes their interactions both so delicious and exasperating at the same time. I found this especially true of Quinn. I wanted her to see what I saw in Kahler, but she couldn’t because their initial contact was such that it colored her ability to recognize his own feelings and motivations. This helps to drive the narrative forward, because this conflict, and the given and take, back and forth between the two characters just pulls you in and holds you as it teases you as to whether these two will finally acknowledge what there is between the two of them.A few warnings. This is a dark novel, and there are some very intense scenes and subjects discussed here. There is nothing light and frothy about this story. That is part of the attraction, however, at least to this reader. The second is that this novel does not have an HEA, or even what I would call a HFN. There are hints of such at the very end, but that could also be wishful thinking on the part of this reader. There is a second novel in the works according to the author, and so that is hopeful in terms of seeing how Quinn and Kahler’s story plays out. But the ending of Broken will leave you feeling broken, but you’ll be glad you read this fantastic first novel nonetheless. And you’ll be eager for her next book soon!

I was captivated from beginning to end, 110% immersed in Quinn’s journey.
"There was some game going on, and Quinn was certain she didn't know what it was. She was just as sure she was losing."This is Quinn's story. The night she meets Tobias Kahler her world is turned upside down, and Tobias' plans for her set off a series of events that neither Quinn nor Tobias are prepared for. What a ride. This book left my mind whirling and I’m feeling raw. I was captivated from beginning to end, 110% immersed in Quinn’s journey. If you like captive/captor books and antiheroes you’ll like this book. It’s dark and I don’t consider this story romantic. I see the groundwork for what might evolve between both main characters, but Quinn and Tobias have a lot to overcome. Those expecting a “dark romance” where the Alpha may be a bad guy, but he turns to mush around the heroine are going to be in for a shock. When reviewers say this is as good as Addison Cain’s Omegaverse series, this should be taken as a warning. The Alphas are deceptive and brutal in this world. Anytime an Alpha demonstrated a small kindness I was left on edge wondering: “What’s his game?” The MMC, Tobias, is an antihero to the core. There’s definitely a backstory to Tobias that remains untold. The writing is phenomenal. The style is unique and effective at putting the reader in Quinn’s shoes. When Quinn was confused, I felt confused. I felt overwhelmed at times and this mirrored how Quinn felt. Not everything was revealed to me, just as not everything was revealed to Quinn. The world-building is subtle, and I slowly learned more about the world as the book progressed. There is no info-dumping, which I always appreciate. Everything about the writing is excellent. At no point in time was I able to predict what was to come, and my expectations were consistently subverted. This seemed like a seasoned author’s book; Eva Dresden really knocked her debut novel out of the park.I'm new to the Omegaverse genre. After reading most of Addison Cain's Omegaverse series I went on the hunt for more Omegaverse. I had a feeling this book would be up my alley, and I'm thrilled to say it surpassed my expectations. I suggest reading a sample before diving in. The first chapter will give you a taste of Eva Dresden's writing style and a clue as to how dark she's willing to go ;-)

Dark yes in the werewolf world
I dont even know where to start. I kept waiting for the Quinn to stand up for herself and then unleash her wrath but it never happened. This is a world where omegas have no rights and alphas/betas can do whatever they want to them. I wouldn't say this is even a good book unless you like broken girls who stay broken and dont fight back. Like how degrading to women. That is the world this author wrote which is sad

Five stars is just not enough for this book!
When I saw the blurb for Broken, promising a dark omegaverse read my greedy little soul couldn't resist. I mean dark AND omegaverse, two of my most very favourite tropes/genres in a book. Anyway it was gone 11 pm where I was but I though, 'go on, read the first chapter, see what it's like'. Yes curiosity will not only be killing the cat it will result in very little sleep too!So just gone 2 am, with gritty eyes and a huffing husband, I had to put the book down. As soon as I was awake the next day I got right back to reading. I ignored the housework, my husband and basic hygiene because OMG I had to finish this book.Anyone who is a fan of Addison Cain needs to read this book. Seriously. It is on a par with her Alpha's Claim series but is still very much it's own book and world. A world that it dragged me into, a dark and sometimes violent world, a world of lies, deceit and heartache.Eva Dresden has an unusual writing style, both good and easy to read but also - hmm- slightly cloudy? It's hard to put into words but it's an implied and suggested style of writing, sometimes vague in detail which precisely portrayed the confusion and bewilderment of Quinn. The writing perfectly matched the feel of the story, adding atmosphere, depth and emotion just at the point it was needed.I just don't have adequate words to do justice to this book. I have words, words like DARK, other words like AMAZING, and still further words like WOW, OMG OMG OMG I NEED MORE NOW. But those words don't tell you how fantastic the writing is, how powerful and domineering the alpha's are, how sweet and gentle, bloody but unbowed Quinn is. They don't describe the emotions and feels I got from this story. The sadness of Quinn's situation and treatment, the frenzy of the lustful rutting, the 'you go girl' at her inner strength, the terror of being powerless and the horror of out of control, uncaring, a-hole Alpha's.I'm not embarrassed to admit that this book made me cry. Well if we burrow down to the truth the mistreatment of Quinn and her brokenness made me sob. There are a whole heap of Alpha males who I would like to slowly torture before removing their genitals with a blunt, rusty table knife. Oh yes my lovelies it is one of THOSE reads. Please if you know someone who loves dark omegaverse books let them know about this one, for no other reason than the fact that in their place I would want to know about it. There is no financial gain for me, just the knowledge that I've helped boost an amazing author to an audience that will love her work.

Nasty
I had such high hopes for this book as I love Omega-centric novels. However, if you are a fan of Addison Cain or Zoey Ellis as I am, this book may not appeal to you. I found it nasty and unpleasant to read with the main character Quinn enduring degradation upon degradation. It obviously appeals to some readers but for me, the main appeal of Cain and Ellis is that the Alpha's in their books have balanced Alpha traits...brutal/tender... domineering/protective etc. And above all, these authors give us an underlying romance/love that develops over time.I did not find this balance in Broken: Omegas Destruction, and found it so relentlessly downbeat that this became a very rare book for me - one I decided not to bother finishing.

Ok so I can handle dark....this book is in another league. One of the best books I've read in a long time. Its a difficult read for sure but engrossing for it. Look forward to seeing the next instalment.

Broken is a tragic road for an Omega
Broken - Eva Dresden - Omega's Destruction Book 1Wow!!! That was intense. This was my first outing with this author! I was picked up, flung around like a rag doll and dropped headfirst into a vat of despair so deep I wasn't sure I could keep treading water at some points! INTENSE!!! I LOVE IT!!!This book is the first in what I suspect will be an extremely rough road for our little Omega, Quinn. She thought she knew the evils that Alpha males could dish out, but by the end of this first instalment, I think Quinn is realising that she really is just a babe in the woods when it comes to the reality of the world she is forced to survive in.If you are not prepared to squirm a bit, then maybe give this a miss. If you are brave enough to run the emotional gamut of what is shaping up to be a savagely fierce and so far, unjustly cruel existence for our Omega female, then read on brave soul, but fair warning is now given! This is definitely an 18+ read. For some readers there will be lot of serious triggers around non-con, dub-con, and so many other (think pretty much the whole enchilada) devastating acts that are perpetrated on our helpless Omega FMC.I can't wait for book 2 - Damaged! BRING IT ON! I gave this four stars!

Couldn't put the book down until it was done!
This was such an interesting read especially to a newbie reading this alternate universe. I had to google a few things at the start of the book which helped me understand it more. Even so I was fully immersed into every page. I wish I had of paid more attention when buying the book realising it was part of a trilogy. I'm going to be pulling my hair out for #2 to come out with that cliffhanger. Highly recommended to anyone who likes a dark romance, looking for something darker. Well done Eva.
