Classic, and I love it.
I normally smoke briar and switch off between different pipes depending on how I feel. Corn cob is kind of a staple so I thought I'd invest some lunch money and grab a classic. If you're a briar smoker, this is a different experience. The first bowl I smoked was just acrid. It didn't stop me from finishing but was not at all enjoyable. I let that pipe settle for a few days before I touched it again. On the second bowl I expected the same but that harsh rancidness pretty much faded away. The pipe comes in uncharred and raw and it needs to be smoked away. It didn't take long. After a few months it has remained enjoyable and fun to smoke. I'm new to corn cob so I expect this happens every time. Just know that it gets better very quickly.I do like that it fits Dr. Grabow filters which are easy to find and inexpensive. It stays cool and feels good in the hand. The bowl is not very big, but good enough for a decent sit. I'm thinking of taking this one camping.Considering its very affordable and performs well, its a fun little pipe to smoke and I'll continue to use it and buy more.

The Legend
It's not called the Legend for nothing, this is the "Go to" Pipe if you want to try a COB and don't know which to get. American Made. Three quarter inch screens and 6 mm Filters fit real good. Super light weight. Absolutely requires a break in period, this is normal for a COB, after that the Pipe is Fantastic, well worth the effort. Good quality and value for the price.

Practical pipe at it's price point
Dollar for dollar, probably the best smoke you can get. This was my first pipe, and I really liked the amber stem, not to mention how highly MM pipes are regarded by those who smoke them. And admittedly, it is a pretty good pipe, though not quite as nice as briar or meers, but you're not going to touch one of those that's worth smoking for a price like this. Used it at first to smoke cigar clippings, and it managed to do that well, despite the 70% humidity I had kept them at.Only drawbacks are that it has a pretty open-bore airway, which can pull some bits through, the stem is very soft, clenching has really done a number to it, and the metal ring fell off, but it seems it wasn't doing that much to begin with. Bit of corn flavor sometimes at first, but that's not necessarily that bad. I've mudded the bottom up a bit and it's a good smoker, had it not been I wouldn't have the others to compare it to!

Good pipe
This is a great little pipe for the price. It doesn't overheat and it drafts good.

Buy this pipe!
This was my second pipe ever. My first was a MM Legend like this but with a straight stem (bought from Walgreen’s for more money than Amazon is asking). Both perform wonderfully. I am very impressed. I am new to pipe smoking, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on pipes if I didn’t like smoking a pipe. Well, it turns out that I greatly enjoy smoking a pipe! I even bought a Dr. Grabow Grand Duke pipe (inexpensive American-made briar) and like it too. You don’t have to spend much to enjoy a pipe. These Missouri Meerschaum cob pipes are excellent for beginner and experienced pipe smokers alike. The bowl is neither small nor large. Just the right size, I think. I’m not a fan of filters, so I always remove them. I find that my pipes draw better without filters. If you take care of your cob pipe, it should provide you with many years of enjoyment. Get some good pipe cleaners, a Czech tool (even a nail will do), some pipe tobacco, and you’re good to go! Don’t forget to let your pipe cool down for a while before you take it apart for cleaning. Things swell when they get hot. If you want to smoke more than a bowl or two a day, invest in more than one pipe so that you can rotate. It’s good to let them cool off and dry out between smokes if possible. I’m at the stage of the hobby where I’m exploring MM cobs, Dr. Grabows, and Mr. Brog pipes. All can be bought inexpensively and are enjoyable. Maybe I’ll ask for a Savinelli or Peterson for Christmas!

Good Pipe For Your Favorite Combustible
I bought my first one on Oct 31, 2015 - that's 2.5 years ago, have used it almost daily, and it still smokes well. Broke it in with tobacco, then moved on to a healthier herbal alternative. Ahem. No problems with it at all; the kinda cheesy-looking plastic stem has held up well, so tougher than I thought. I ordered two more today, and was tempted to try the straight bit model. However, since it apparently has a different bowl shape, and I've been very happy with the 5th Avenue style, I decided to stick with it. Wish MM would explain the different bowl shapes and how they differ in action.I have a small collection of briar pipes including a couple pricey ones I picked up cheap at estate sales, and a couple Graybows, but this pipe smokes cooler and works better than any of them. Surprised me. Also surprised me by holding up so well. I'd have thought it would be burnt out by now, cob is very durable, it seems. Decided to pick up a couple extras while the gettin' is good. Who knows? It could turn into a thing and go up in price.

Decent price
Has a plastic taste when puffing. And yes I removed the fake filter.Might just invest in a better pipe as this unit is too soft on the bottom and gets really warm.
