R.A.T.S. Rapid Application Tourniquet System - Hi Vis Blue

The RATS TQ is a good back up to a CAT, SWAT, TK4, etc. I would not recommend that someone carry this as a primary TQ. It is very difficult to achieved complete occlusion with, I believe due to its flat laded design. Arterial occlusion can be achieved in one attempt with a CAT, SWAT, TK4, or SOFTT-W; however it may take several attempts to accomplish the same goal with a RATS (in my experience). The RATS would also be problematic should you be treating a patient (or yourself) with very large limbs, especially legs/thighs. The shape/design of the RATS causes it to make a cutting action into the skin causing an unusual amount of pain or discomfort to the patient in comparison to the CAT, SWAT, SOFTT-W, or TK4. Where the RATS might excel would be for pediatric patients and K9 treatment. You can accomplish the same thing that the RATS offers with a well made bungee cord, placing each wrap adjacent to the first, achieving a large coverage area and locking the cord in place on itself with the supplied metal J Hook.

Works fantastic like any RATS tourniquet would. Definitely something to add to your med kit at home and in your car. I'll definitely be buying more of these. I'm not a medical professional but have some training. I'd much rather have this handy in an emergency than trying to jerry rig something.

luckily i haven't needed to use it, but testing it is pretty cool. It works great and i'm sure i can do it with one hand and they can be used as many times as you like.
