Coders` Desk Reference for Diagnoses (ICD-10-CM) 2016 2016 Edition

This has been a great resource for me on my job. Highly recommend it to the working medical coder.

Not too much can go wrong with books from the experts at Optum.

It was what I expected. In good shape, as described and quick shipping.

This book is perfect for the uncommon diagnoses that we rarely see. It explains the condition so that that you understand the anatomical location and other helpful tips for the coder. I highly recommend this reference book. It arrived in good condition and by the estimated delivery date.

I've bought the Coders' Desk References for ICD-9 diagnoses and procedures for years, so I figured the ICD-10 Coders Desk Reference would also be helpful. It's not. Not for an experienced coding/auditing professional anyway. A student or a new coder may benefit from the book, but if you're experienced, I recommend passing on this book. A lot of codes are skipped over and not mentioned at all. There's nothing in this book I couldn't find somewhere else on an internet search for free. Optum missed the mark on this one. I recommend going to the Optum website and looking at the sample pages they provide for each of their books before buying this to make sure it would be helpful to you first before buying.

Vague or non-existent descriptions...too many instances where an explanation of codes/categories are NOT provided. For my business needs, a reference book with limitations on the references provided is totally unacceptable. Online searches via search engines will garner far better reference information than this book. Pretty packaging but sorely lacking in substance. The implementation of ICD-10 had been floating around for 10+ years before it finally happened on 10/1/2015; yet this publication seems to have been complied "off-the-cuff." Too late to return for a full refund. In the future, I will be EXTREMELY cautious before purchasing another OPTUM 360 product. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK.
