3D printing technology is rapidly increasing. Just a few years ago, consumer owned 3D printers were merely things of dreams. Now, you can hold all of that technology in the palm of your hand! Make your lifeless pen/pencil drawings pop out of your page and into reality with VectorMoon's 3D printing pen! KEY PRODUCT FEATURES 1. OK but not great
This works fine for my purpose. I use it for filling gaps and doing touch ups on 3D prints. I print primarily in ABS plastic and it gets hot enough to allow descent bonding with my prints. However, if I were using this product for its intended purpose I would be less happy. The feeder motor is at least 4 inches back from the hot end requiring a very long distance of travel before getting extrusion or removing filament. This makes either process extremely slow. I also noticed that color changes take a very long time to clear up. Going from black to white required over a meter of filament before it was no longer gray. Of course that is the most extreme color change. Beyond that the motor has a very high pitched whine that is more than just a little bit annoying. If I had it to do over again, I believe I would look for a pen with an adjustable temp as well.

perfect for those who love trying new challenging things
drawing in air is quit challenging but over all it is great it works as advertised. The variable speed works well no significant pulsing it just extrudes the plastic when you tell it to and how much you tell it to.

Only worked for about 15 minutes
Kids were excited to get and use this pen... They used it for about 10 minutes, changed the color. Then used it for about 5 minutes and it stopped working... It wasn't heating up any more so it stopped feeding the plastic. I unplugged it and plugged it back it. It got hot again, but every time I would try to advance the plastic it would just turn off. Turn it back on and it would heat until light was solid again... Try to advance plastic and it would simply shut off again. Returned for a refund.

Love the smaller size of this 3D pen, would happily buy again, but would be nice if it had an LCD display and faster temp change
I give this just over 4 1/2 stars....rounded to 5. This is my 2nd 3D pen, and there is a lot to like about this one. I might just be getting better, but I really felt like I could control this one better. 2 factors may contribute to this. 1) this is a very narrow comfortable pen to hold/control. 2)The nozzle is a bit finer, which seems to give a bit finer control. What you give up though, is the LCD temp display that some of the nicer larger pens have, so far though, I have not found it necessary to change the temp. I also love that the power cable has a standard USB cable end. This allows a lot of choice in powering it including using a "Power Bank", this I love, as I find the cords to be too short, and also restrict movement. This also allows you to use it in places/situations where you might not have an outlet. Play with this one outside... no problem!(My other pen is one of the larger but very nice models with an LCD display, and LED indicators. I love that one also, for different reasons, and will make a lot of comparisons in this review as they both have pros and cons.) My daughter and I have really enjoyed playing and being creative with these pens.Right after powering this one up, I was able to draw some freehand shapes, including a little tower into the air, using "in the air" techniques and I found they worked VERY well with this particular pen.PRO's-* Very narrow, easy to hold/control pen, much more the size you're used to writing with.* Narrow tip, seems to allow better control, and better "air writing", this should also make filament "go farther" or last longer, although this could make larger jobs especially "fill in" take longer.** Love that it comes with a USB end on the power cord (with a USB wall wart too)* Was set to a great temp, right out of the box.* Quality and look are very nice. Would definitely make a great gift!* Although I have not torn it open, it looks like it might be easier than my other one to get inside should you get a clog or need to clear the gears.** Allows continuous or press to extrude options. (my other pen doesn't have continuous mode.)* Easy to use extrusion speed slider* I got the purple one, and I really like the look of it.Neutral observations:*Gear marks on filament seem very pronounced...once retracted to switch colors. (cut a bit off, to help avoid jams...which is true for all 3D pens.)* little cover over temp control could probably be removed if you found yourself using it often.* You'll probably want to have some more filament on hand...as you'd hate to run out, when you're having fun after getting it. (Comes with 3 small coils of filament, which is normal, to better than average.)CON's-* No LCD display, to see exact temp or temp setting*Manual (nicely printed but is small cardstock card) its way too basic, and doesn't give detailed info on temperature setting or other useful info that should be included.*Temp setting is hidden away under a pull away cover.* It's nice that it comes with filament, but I couldn't see anywhere where they indicated whether it was ABS or PLA...* At least a general indication of where to turn dial for PLA vs ABS would be nice, although I know they could require fine tuning...but it would be a nice starting point. (Although in fairness I haven't had to make any adjustments yet though.)My personal opinion regarding a few comments the most negative reviewer indicated: (Just because I felt they may not be totally fair.)*Although they may be very knowledgeable about 3D Printers, I wonder if they have any experience with other 3D pens, as I'm guessing their comments may apply to all 3D pens. In other words, I felt their negatives may be more applicable to ALL 3D pens than just this one.*They indicated that gears were well back from tip... I do identify with this complaint, but both of mine are this way, and i'm guessing it's for a reason... you don't want the gears too close to the heating element or gears would either melt or jam with soft filament, especially on extraction. That said, I think they are closer in this one than my other.* They mentioned a high pitched whine... at least mine doesn't exhibit what I would classify as this, and is the same or maybe quieter than my other pen.* Color changes, both of mine (maybe all) do allow some color mixing for some time, when using very different tones/colors like black/white.* They also say they would buy one with a temperature change option... which this DOES have, although not marked or easily identified.Overall, I am extremely happy with this pen purchase, although it is not perfect in that it would be nice to have a LCD display, and an easier temp changes, I still love this one so far. I feel very comfortable recommending this one to anyone, especially those with smaller hands and/or not wanting to hold larger/bulkier/heavier devices for long amounts of time.**I purchased this at a discount in exchange for my promise to provide my 100% honest and impartial review, which I promise I am giving here. (This does not keep me from giving 1, 2, or 3 star reviews or full praise as warranted.) Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Very good birthday present
I have been hearing about these amazing 3d pen for quite some time now, and the first time I saw them I pictured my (now) 10 year old daughter loving one. I ordered this for her 10th birthday, and she has loved it right away. It takes a little bit to get the hang of using this thing, but I see her slowly getting better and better with each art piece. She started out just using it to trace things drawn or printed on paper, and is starting to actually draw 3d with it now. I would highly suggest ordering a large pack of refills so that you can get to know the pen well. Also, I would open a window or use this outside as it is smelly, you are melting plastic!! There are so many videos online of ideas and showing you how to use the 3d pen, I highly recommend watching a few as well. If we had just read the directions and started it up, I think it would have taken a bit longer to get comfortable with the pen.We have never used another 3d pen before, this is our first, so I have nothing to compare it to. I would say it is probably a beginner 3d printing pen, as I know there are others out there that are more expensive. I am happy I ordered this and would order again in a heartbeat. I actually want to try out a different one to see if they are all made the same or if they are different. My 8 year old wants her own pen now too!!I do wish it had a longer cord!I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review and opinion. The review/opinion given is mine and mine alone, I am not required to leave positive feedback.
