Nice lights, great company
These lights have 4 LED's in them and some very clever reflectors that make it look like there are 8. Even so, they are not quite as bright as I had hoped they would be. They are very nice decorative accents that are about as bright as moonlight. The finish on the plastic pieces really looks like copper, and being plastic, will never dull or turn green. They look really nice on top of my Rose wood Visions fence posts. Out of the box, they are a perfect fit on typical 5" vinyl fence posts. They include 2 adaptors for smaller wood posts, if needed. I had 2 of them fall off my fence posts before I got a chance to secure them with the included screws. The clear lens cracked on one of them and the housing cracked on the other one. They both still worked though. I sent an e-mail to Pine Top with pictures of what happened asking to purchase some replacement lenses or plastic parts as they are really easy to disassemble and work on. They responded quickly and told me they would provide the parts I needed. A few days later, I got the parts. Actually, what they sent me was 2 new complete lights. No charge. Great service. The included batteries are only 550ma NiMh AA's. When they fail, I will replace them with 2500ma versions. Even so, with the 550's, they seem to burn almost all night with out trouble. If these lights were a little brighter and came with 2500ma batteries I would have given them 5 stars. The company definitely rates 5 stars.

Got to get more!!!
It initially looked like there was a 1 to 3 week wait for this, but I noticed that there was one available at an Amazon warehouse. So I placed the order and got the usual fast shipping. I read all the other reviews, so no surprises when I opened the box. I sat it outside for about 1/2 day of overcast weather followed by a few hours of direct sunlight. When it came on I brought it inside and I was surprised at how much light it gave off. You couldn't read by it, but it gave off enough light to be useful for outdoor mood light. To my surprise it was still bright at 6 AM the next morning. WOW!!!!It says it will fit 5 x 5 vinyl posts and it does, but your choices are to leave off the base (not sure how well it would stay on the post as there's nothing to fasten it) or put it on the larger base and insert it inside your 5 x 5 post. The problem is that the screw hole ends up being inside the post so attaching with the included screw would be a pain in the wahzoo. I'm sure one could find an appropriate adhesive and everything would be perfect. As others have warned, it appears to be cheaper and I suspect brittle plastic so I would proceed with caution in drilling holes in the plastic base. It comes with bases to adapt the cap light for 4 x 4 and 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch posts. This has been the only solar post cap that I liked that would fit a 5 x 5 vinyl post. It works fine, looks great and gives off enough light for my needs....I'm giving it 5 stars despite the little problem with attachment to a 5 x 5 post. The problem is that I now want to order more and I'll have to wait 1 to 3 weeks before I can get them.

Water leaks inside
This solar light provides a lot of light and I really like the design, but after 9 months outside, the plastic housing expanded and contracted from the sun and rain causing it to leak and rust inside. I purchased another light and this time I sealed the upper and lower parts of the light to include painters blue tape on the battery area, so ants and geckos cannot find its way through the battery cover hole like the previous light. I hope this works and will find out in the next six months. I purchase more in 2015 and I did not use a good oil base sealer and it leaked again and I had to return it. This new light came with a cracked lens and a wire that came apart. I sealed the cracked lens and attached the wire, and used an oil base sealer on the light now its working great so far. Only time will tell the story. Sealing the light is a key part in prolonging its life, also they should use larger wires for the battery area, many break off when it gets wet or during shipment. Also when the battery is low from not enough sun light, in the early morning when it is still dark the light blinks, wish it would just shut off. Seems like I am sending an SOS signal

Returned before I even installed it!
I read all the reviews on here before I purchased this, and they were very helpful in making the choice of this cap. I wanted to use it to light the single post at the end of our driveway, because driving home on a winter's night it is nearly impossible to see the entrance. It did appear to be bright enough for my needs, but what they don't tell you in the description is that you are not supposed to use this during winter months. It says in the instructions to remove it during the winter, meaning I have no use for this at all. This probably does not affect those who are using it on a deck or fence, but I think it's a total waste to have something you can't leave out there year-round.Other comments: The plastic housing is really cheap. The solar panel was cracked when it arrived, although it did not appear to be a result of shipping. It does not mount permanently to the post, could be easily knocked off (or stolen in my case). Once you pull that tag that reveals the batteries, you cannot turn the light off. Even if I had decided to keep it and install in the spring, I would have had to take out the batteries to turn it off until then. Screws are difficult to unscrew because of placement and the cheapness of the plastic they screw into. I imagine that if you took this apart more than a few times, you would not be able to tighten the screws at all.I am disappointed! I really wanted this to work. The only good thing is that it did arrive quickly, even though I did use Free shipping.
