I was not specifically looking for a product that I could just spray on and expect to get my deck back because that just didn't seem realistic considering the condition of my deck. However, this product made that promise, so I spent the money. It was a false promise. After many hours of scrubbing we were able to restore our sun-damaged grayed-out deck to it's original luster. We scrubbed so hard and so long that it is, frankly, impossible to tell if the cleaner had any effect at all or if just plain old soap and water would have achieved the same result. The other half of this product was another story, however, hence the 4-star rating. The brightener did make a significant difference. The instructions for applying the brightener read in part: "Before you apply the brightener, be certain all remaining gray areas on the wood have been removed with Woodrich Brand Wood Cleaner & Mild Stripper (EFC-38)". In other words, scrub the gray away. I like the idea of a non-chlorine based deck cleaner so I will probably buy this again, but for the brightener, not for the cleaner. I suspect that is why the product is only sold as a kit.

I used both products to clean and brighten an older deck. The stripper did a very good job of cleaning dirt and mildew. The brightener was used to neutralize the stripper but could not tell much difference in color of wood (treated pine) after treatment. Overall a good product.

The product exceeded my expectations. Restored a 800 sq. ft, 3 year old treated pine deck to like-new appearance.Simply follow the directions. I applied the cleaner and scrubbed the surface with a stiff deck brush, and the fresh new-looking surface was revealed Immediately upon rinsing. It takes some elbow grease to strip that top layer, but the results make it worth the effort. Follow up with the brightener, which also worked quite quickly to lighten the surface color, a quick rinse and you're done.The seller was also quickly responsive to a shipping issue. Would definitely purchase again.

Still had to power wash. Brushing did not take the debris off. Very heavy this spring from fallout after the Fires so I won't give it a five

First, please know this product isn’t returnable, even unopened. We bought TWO SETS of this woodrich cleaner and brightener and then when that didn’t work, also purchased the heavy duty stripper for use on a deck aged two years without cleaning. We spent over $300.00 on Woodrich cleaners as a last ditch effort after failed efforts with two cleaners from Lowe’s as well.All of that money was wasted...I’ll admit the Woodrich heavy duty stripper works (with pressure washing—and that’s not this product), but it is CAUSTIC and burns like the fires of Hell if it gets on you. But this product was complete garbage and didn’t clean my deck.My husband, at the suggestion of a co-worker, tried four scoops of Oxy Clean, a hefty squirt of Palmolive, and a hefty squirt of Hydrogen Peroxide in a two gallon spray mixer. He sprayed on untouched portions of the deck, waited twenty minutes, and then scrubbed (just like we tried with this Woodrich product and the heavy duty stripper). The difference? The OxyClean worked first go around! Whereas both this cleaner and the heavy duty stripper required MULTIPLE sprays, MULTIPLE scrubbing, and MULTIPLE pressure washings.Is the OxyClean recipe a miracle worker? No.Do I wish I had tried it first? Yes.It worked better, faster, and with less effort than all other cleaners we tried.Save your money.

Be sure to wet your deck before applying the cleaner as this will make it go farther, we used a power washer to rinse and are pleased with the results.

Excellent product, did an awesome job restoring my deck!

Tried this on my IPE wood deck. The cleaner/stripper worked as it should but the brightener did nothing. Had enough left over for a second treatment, no change. There are less costly products that will provide the same results.
