PS2 on 65" 4k Samsung TV
I bought this so I could play games on my old PS2. The Component came in a nice box. It installed easily and worked perfectly. We have a 65" Samsung 4k, Series 9, Smart TV. It recognized the HDMI port was occupied, I had to search the devices list. Once it was ready I turned on the Play Station 2 and we were off and running. Sound quality is as good as ever and the image is pretty darn good for a system that old and CGI that primitive. I could not be happier with the purchase and results.

Would be an amazing solution for PS2/GC/Wii.. if it worked.
Upon first hooking up the device it worked brilliantly. Giving a great picture quality while keeping the 4:3 aspect ratio that the PS2 provides. Flawlessly passing through 480i and 480p and even working well with PS1 games via the PS2. With great image and sound quality this device for the price would easily be the best option for connecting your systems via component to and HDTV or capture card.BUT and that's a huge but, after my initial setup and excitement, all went down hill. On direct to TV the image would cut out every 5 or so seconds and 90% of my attempts to get an image from my capture card showed no success. Neither the pass through to my monitor nor the Capture windows would show a signal. I got it to work once with my PS2 and Wii and like i praised, it looked great! but after that.. nothing. at first i thought it was the component cables or my HDMI cable. I Swapped them out for a different set connecting directly to my TV to make sure it wasn't my PS2 going out and even tried using the Wii but all signs point to the converter being the issue.Honestly, I could have jumped for a replacement but that would mean sending it off, waiting for them to confirm the return then finally sending off a new one, waiting for that one to get here and possibly having the exact same issues which I'm apparently not the first to run into. So I'm just opting to return it and buying a different converter all together.Hope this review helps!

Finicky at best; desync issues when attempting to capture the output of this device
As a converter, this device gets the job done, but its not without its share of quirks, of which there are quite a few.As far as the good, this device produces an image on my TV without any desync issues whatsoever, audio, video, everything is spot on, and actually rather clean, (I use it to capture my old Wii via 480p, to it's credit, the image on a 55' HDTV looks a lot better than I expected), it's also built pretty well with its all metal housing, however, this is where the positives stop. The converter drops video on my TV from time to time; video on the passthrough goes black for about 5 seconds, comes back and has no sync issues on the passthrough, but then there are desync issues on the capture for my Elgato HD60 Pro and even my old Avermedia C985.If I had to guess, I'd say I get about half a second of latency, this happens after about 15 minutes of use, no matter what i adjust, makes no difference, the issue persists, it also produces small black borders around the capture, which is really weird as that isn't displayed on passthrough either. You'd think this was an issue with my configuration, but that can't be as its the only one of a few component converters I use for different systems that has this issue and it even happens on my other rig; it just isn't up to snuff for capturing, would assume this is likely due to the device not outputting a proper signal since the TV is a little more forgiving and isnt having as much of an issue aside from the intermittent black outs, the capture cards, however, don't like this thing, unfortunate as I bought it specifically for that reason.I can't recommend this converter due to its unreliable nature, good build quality, but i don't know if this thing is broken or just cheap.

Excellent low budget solution to connecting a older DVD player ...
Excellent low budget solution to connecting a older DVD player to a newer flat screen TV. As per other reviewers, it's very important to look carefully at what you need, as input/output on this unit is NOT reversible, ie: this unit only connects going from older component video (YPbPr) + RL audio w/ RCA jacks to new HDMI input. I set mine up last night and it worked perfectly out of the box. I would consider looking for a USB cable that has a 4mm barrel connector on one end to take the place of the plug in transformer to power this unit, but that is a minor detail.

Never got it to work
I tried to use this to connect my older Bose Lifestyle to a new Samsung TV that doesn't have a Component connection. I previously had the Bose connected with Component cables to an older TV, and it worked very well. I simply connected the existing Bose Component cable to this converter, then added an HDMI cable from the converter to TV. I confirmed the HDMI cable worked elsewhere. The unit showed it was getting power, but my TV never recognized that it had power nor could it connect.

New life to old equipment!
I purchased this to connect my Wii to my wall mounted tv that only has HDMI cables going to it. I purchased a Componet cable from another vendor (Qkill) that has 3 console ends (Wii PS2 Xbox). When using the 3 console cable was having issues with flicker, I emailed the seller of this and got response very quickly asking me to change to different cable. I installed the genuine Wii componet cable and everything works great. So This componet to HDMI works awesome, picture is superior.

Worked perfectly to connect our old Toshiba DVD player to ...
Worked perfectly to connect our old Toshiba DVD player to a new TV lacking component inputs, once I got the connections right. I picked this converter after noticing that reviews of others mentioned no sound. Having the 5 inputs instead of 3 meant that I was confident that sound would work. The only very minor negatives are that- the red power indicator light is very bright and can be distracting under the TV- the power adaptor plug orientation isn't optimal for my power strip (had to put it on an end slot to not block an adjacent plug)- the power adaptor cord is a bit on the short side.
