I absolutely love the small size of these bottles for kombucha. The size makes them really shareable. This is my very first brew, so I will update this review if I find and quality issues in the near future.

Perfect for kombucha!

I am trying to reduce the number of plastic water bottles I throw away every day, so I've been going through various water bottles until I found these. I wish Amazon would have shown me these early on!Most of the 18 oz water bottles here, feature a cap with a stainless steel cover, and some even have a strap coming out of the cap. Those caps are made of 4 pieces, the main part of which has a slit in the top for the strap, even if it's covered with the stainless cap. Well, everything has to be assembled perfectly for those to seal properly, and being made in China they are not all perfect. Further, for proper cleaning the lids have to be taken apart and washed manually, and then they retain the smell of dish soap so you have to rinse them thoroughly. The lids on those Chinese bottles (the ones with the 43 mm lids) are non-standard, so you can't even find a replacement without getting another stainless+plastic+stainless+silicone type that leaks anyway.Like I said, had the Amazon search shown me these bottles earlier, and I would not have had to become a bottle and lid expert in the process! These are American made bottles, with an outline of the State of Arkansas on the bottom. These bottles take a standard and easy to replace lid, size 38-400, and you can wash everything in a dishwasher if you get a bag to hold the lids.Common complaints: Any glass bottle may shatter if you try to freeze it with liquid in, especially water based. (Water expands when it's frozen, more than the glass does.)There isn't anything made of glass that doesn't have complaints about some arriving broken. Don't wait a month before checking your shipment. They'll probably be OK, unless the carrier in your area is particularly notorious for breaking things. They come well packed, so if they arrive broken, it's because of abuse, either at the warehouse or with the shipper.I can happily report that my bottles do not smell of dish soap, but I did soak the lids in clean water after the came out of the dishwasher, just to make sure.These hold about 16 oz, but if you fill up into the neck, maybe closer to 17 oz. That's the perfect size to carry around!I've never made Kombucha with these, so I can't tell you whether they can stand the pressure build up inside. I can tell you these would have a better chance than those with the 4 part leaky lids do! Also, if they leak or the lids break, replacement lids can be gotten pretty cheaply because they are a standard size (38 / 400).

I love love love these bottles for when I'm making batches of various sauces. Mostly they hold my fresh hot sauces because they pour well and hold a good amount of liquid. They are attractive bottles with a great seal. They come with a seal disc in the cap, but after first use I throw out those single-use discs and just use the plastic lid and it still holds a leak proof seal to the glass. I shake these rigorously and have never had a leak in dozens of fills over the last few months.These bottles are thick-walled, heavy, and very sturdy. They just feel right in the hand like a nice expensive bottle. Great style for filling and labeling for business or for nice food gifts. And they are short enough to fit in your refrigerator shelves or doors easilyThe bottle neck is big enough to allow these to be cleaned quite easily. Many types of bottle brushes fit in the neck. And you don't get the food stains (think tomato-based sauces) like you get with plastic condiment bottles or containers.The glass bottles are obviously dishwasher safe, but surprisingly so are the plastic caps. I put the caps in my dishwasher's door-mounted silverware basket and they don't melt or deform at all.Best bottles ever, and at a reasonable price

They work great for my homemade kombucha.

These bottles are great. I have purchased them twice. I am a diabetic and when I have a low blood sugar they are the perfect size to grab in the middle of the night filled with milk or orange juice. They are also good for cold water so you do not have to buy those plastic bottles.

I like to buy juice, tea, etc in bulk so I fill up smaller containers to make it easier to take it with me outside of the house. I used to have plastic ones but they shriveled up in the dishwasher and were more susceptible to mold growth. These glass containers are perfect. It's easy to clean them by just putting them in the dishwasher and they are definitely leakproof.Bonus: glass is 100% recyclable.
