I think it's a reasonable design decision because chopping solids or emulsifying liquids on this micro scale takes only seconds.TASKSVery, very sharp stainless rotary blades will chop almost any food including meat - NOT SUITABLE for hard stuff such as coffee beans or nutmeg seeds, but it can easily handle all shelled nuts otherwise. Very good at chopping ginger.Put the solids in after the blade unit - not solids firstIf working with solids & liquids at once, then chop the solids before adding the liquidSAFETYDevice will not operate without the bowl securely attached to the base & the lid securely attached to the bowl. There are two places in the lid for solids or liquids to be poured in, but it is impossible for even babies fingers to get inside that way. A very safe machine as long as you're not daft enough to put the body in a washing bowlPROS & CONSI see complaints about the cord length, but I think it's not especially shortI see complaints about liquids splashing out through the lid, but that's impossible if one doesn't overfill past 2/3This is NOT a substitute for a smoothie/nutrition drink maker, it will do a very nice job of chopping veg and/or herbs as a base for curries, stews & casseroles or for making sauces/dips such as mayonnaise, tartar, pesto, citrus vinaigrette, guacamole, taramasalata or tzatziki.Motor is plenty powerful enough & yet it's quietBUILD & AESTHETICSAlthough it's a plastic body the build is robust & it's nicely heavy. It's easy to unscrew lid & bowl one handed without the Magimix Mini sliding around - the rubber feet are effective. There's a complaint about the components being difficult to put into place, but frankly this is absurd - the blade slides down onto the spindle only if a slot in the blade unit mates with a lug on the spindle, it's child's play to turn the blade unit until oriented correctly to the spindle.MY VERDICTI am very pleased with the compactness & the utility of the device. I love the colour of my bright red Magimix & it's very easy to clean. Wash the blade by hand separately & then put it back on the spindle for safe keeping10/10

Absolutely fabulous!!!! I already have the magimix 5200 which I use every day....This was bought as an addition and not only does it look fabulous on the work top... it is the heavy quality you would expect from magimix. Perfect for chopping up a quick salsa or whizzing a salad dressing.It is so simple to use as it has one button, the pulse. Magimix has become my favourite kitchen appliance by far!!!! Xxx

This stopped working out of the blue! The blade rotates while empty but once loaded with whatever it is it doesn't rotate!! The motor works but not the blade as it should, so it does not chop or blend! A total waste of money!

This was a gift for our lovely daughter-in-law who is using it to make baby food for nine-moth -old Thomas, our grandson. It's a really compact, very attractive and modern looking kitchen machine. She is really enjoying using it and says that she wouldn't be without it now. The only "negative" point she makes is that the blades are extraordinarily sharp and need extreme care when hand washing (they don't have a dishwasher).My wife wants one, too - a recommendation indeed.

Good value for the money, but you're getting what you pay for. Works well for pulsing small amounts of food, making aioli or hummus, etc., which is what I needed. Unlikely to stand up to regularly trying to finely blend or running the motor for an extended period. If you need something like that, it's going to cost quite a bit more to get a quality version.

Not recommended for grinding the meat.

Bought this to start making recipes that heavily involve a food processor. Been making some incredible hummus.Only issue I've had is that the lid can need a bit of force to close it but I can't work out why. Frightened I'm going to break it despite its solid feel.
