Thirst quenching
I am former army vehicle specialist (vs), stationed in Germany back in the early 80's.My job was to make sure that, along with other military vehicles, our large selection of land rovers were in tip-top condition, and ready for deployment at a minute's notice.Back then, the cold war was still looming, tensions were running high between our NATO forces and the Soviet Union, also the Falkland's War was raging. As you can imagine, we had to lovingly care for our vehicles, with the iconic land rover being paramount for our forces and used everyday in numerous roles, it is such a flexible and adaptable vehicle, playing many roles for our armed forces.I have recently started to take a two fold interest in the land rover again, one being pure nostalgia, and the other as a business idea, to renovate and sell ex-mod vehicles.I have bought a few books lately, to educate myself a bit more about land rovers and this book (Military Land Rover: 1948 Onwards (Series II/IIA to Defender) (Enthusiasts' Manual) is exactly what I was looking for, quenching my thirst for all different aspects of the land rover, including it,s humble beginings, history, roles, etc, and also chartering it's progress from the series 1, back in the 1940,s up to the latest wolf models of today. There are loads of excellent pictures of every type and adaptation of the land rovers colourfull history. There are, of course other books with more mechanical detail, but I would put this one at the top of the list at the moment for getting me motivated on the subject.

Good military Land Rover summary
Good addition to my increasing collection of Land Rover books and information. Good photos and text and some variations I'd never seen before. Check out the "Berlin" camo version for something different. Well written and an easy and informative read and reference. If you like Land Rovers, particularly military versions you'll enjoy this.
