They dry food without a plastic or motor taste.
This is our second dehydrator like this. We fill them both with sliced apples and they work wonderful.

Dangerous to your health if you eat food from this!
I was so anxious to come down stairs this morning to try my dehydrated strawberries. They dried perfectly overnight. I started eating them and they're perfect; then my throat got scratchy and I started choking. I happen to catch a glimpse at the underside of a strawberry and saw that the plastic grate marks literally melted into the strawberry. The entire "grill" mark is filled with shiny toxic plastic. Trust me, it is not just typical grill marks, it is embedded plastic. PLEASE, AMAZON STOP SELLING THIS DANGEROUS PRODUCT! Look at my PICTURES!!

Faulty product!! There are better ones on the market!
One star is as low one can rate. This is my first experience with dehydrating foods. I read up on recipes, how thin to slice the different fruits and do's and don'ts so I was clear on how to use this device. I am in that small percent that read manuals! I happened on the Kitchen Living 5 Tray Electric Food Dehydrator at Aldi's for $20 so I got it there. I dried peaches first and it took 13 hours to dehydrate - they tasted wonderful even though it took a little too long. As I took the peaches off the trays to store I noticed a shiny grid-like design on the backs of all the fruit. It was the plastic tray that yielded that shine!! As if it had melted on each piece. I had to throw out 11 peaches just like that. Out of curiosity I tried another batch - bananas this time; these took almost 20 hours (and you have to be with them to turn the trays a quarter turn every several hours). Same plastic came off onto the fruit. And yes, in case you're wondering I washed the trays in hot soapy water both times prior to using. Needless to say this item is going back! Don't invest in this product; there are others out there that are of better quality - some with fans - some with varying heat settings. Guess you get what you pay for! Dehydrating can be done in the oven very successfully however, running your oven that long is not economical; go with a dehydrator! Good luck!

The Plastic trays melt and are not durable after use
The plastic trays melted onto my dried vegetables and became brittle making them fragile to handle.I will never buy another product like this and also now avoiding anything made in China. W.Reau

Melting trays
This will dehydrate. But slowly. If you have something that has any liquid in it, the trays will melt. I was making fruit leather and after it taking 24 hours to dehydrate, the trays were completely melted. Made me worry what toxins were released.

Works Great!
I think the other users gave this a bum rap. I bought this at a low price and thinking since it has a 2 yr warranty, I would take a chance. The product works beautifully! I have dried beef, chicken, fish, veg, herbs; using all trays or only 1 or 2. I have nothing but good things to say about it. The trays wash up beautifully and the meat /fish etc dried just as expected. It does not have a heat temp control but I haven't missed one. All the jerky came out great. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on another one when it certainly wasn't necessary. Would highly recommend this.

Will not last!
After 1.5 months of use, every tray is cracked/melted. One has cracked from edge to edge. Obviously bad plastic not suited for the purpose.

Trays melt
It works well. No bells or whistles. However, I am only giving it 2 stars because the trays are melting. The more I use it the more the trays melt.
