Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein Protein Powder, Chocolate Supreme, 2 Pound

So far, I am in love with this protein. I have finished one 2lb container of the Chocolate Supreme.I choose Casein Protein because I wanted a slow digesting protein. I drink it for breakfast so it keeps me full until lunch. I drink this with 12 ounces of 1% milk with a "heaping scoop" of this protein power. The combination of milk and protein powder is very rich and delicious. I don't have any trouble drinking it down, though I take about 20 minutes to do so because its so filing. I use this 20 ounce blender bottle BlenderBottle Classic Loop Top Shaker Bottle, Clear Blue, 20 Ounce and this is the only thing I drink in the morning. It mixes more effectively if you put the liquid in the cup first, then add the powder and then shake the bottle. I have found that when I do it this way, I do not have any clumps in it. (When I buy a new Blender Bottle, I will switch to the 28 ounces because the 20 is just a little too small so sometimes the powder gets stuck to the roof before it even has time to mix in.)I have found that using less than 10 ounces of milk creates a gross consistency. Casein protein has an amazing ability to gel (which is what helps keep you full) but it is unpleasant to drink if it is so thick, so I always use at least 12 ounces of milk. This is a really effective way for me to get all of my protein during the day. I work out on a daily basis, but not at the level where I need whey protein (I walk/run 10 miles a day and do some minor strength training and don't eat quite enough meat.)This does not have gluten in it; but it is milk based.Overall, I will buy it again once I run out.

I've gone through 12 bottles of 4 pounds of casein powder in the chocolate supreme flavor from ON and I love it. Hot tip: it's really good if you add a little salt while blending it. I drink four servings a day, every day - I don't get sick of it. So yeah, chocolate supreme is great. Strawberry cream on the other hand tastes like straight up medicine when blended with water. I think the only way I'd drink this flavor daily is if it was blended with full fat ice cream.I didn't want to take stars away for the flavor of strawberry cream because I like the brand and the protein powder itself - I just think strawberry cream is not for me.

Tastes great! Thicker than whey protein by far. I'm not as hungry in the mornings when I consume before bedtime.

I enjoy this protein powder, it is not chalky like other brands. I got the strawberry and cream flavor which was okay but I would have enjoyed the plain strawberry flavor I believe. I got the strawberry cream after reading a review saying it tasted like a strawberry milkshake. To me it tastes more like strawberry cheesecake. I despise cheesecake and when I put this in strawberry smoothies I can taste the cream flavor coming through. The protein powder mixes fairly well and I like adding it to yogurt, smoothies, and drinking it with milk.

LOVE. This is the first time I've tried Casein protein powder and I will take it at night before bed. When I do take it at night, I have noticed that I'm less hungry in the morning and feel more energized because of that. It is a great late night snack if I'm a little hungry, but it's too late for me to eat a full meal...or if I ate earlier that evening, but am hungry before bedtime anyways. I do not take it during the day or after workouts - that I use only whey protein powder. But this is perfect for when I haven't eaten enough protein by the end of the day and need a snack right before bed.

I'm a cancer scientist and I am very particular about my health and what goes into my body. I was gaining a lot of pounds from stress eating and decided to use this as a meal replacement and I am so glad I did. I still eat a balanced diet as a base for my diet, but replacing my dinner or breakfast (or both depending on how busy I am) with this has really saved my life. I have more energy and I am getting back to my original weight. One small little warning though, this will make your poop a little harder than usual because of all the protein, so make sure you are eating a lot of fiber in the rest of you meals. Great taste though!

I haven't bought Optimum Nutrition products in over 10 years. The chocolate tastes pretty much the same: tolerable to good and kind of pudding like. Something else that's the same, they've always mixed poorly. With a shaker you'll wind up with blobs and smears down the side. Even with an immersion blender I wind up with muddy accumulation on the wand. The only way I found to make certain it's completely mixed, whether 10 years ago or today, is to pour slowly into a full size blender with everything already moving.Decent protein for the money, but there are certainly better mixing and tasting brands out here.I can't vouch for the quality of the protein, but I'll have to assume than O.N. wouldn't still be around if they were consistently overstating quality claims.
